Push pull Volume pot 

1. The first wiring is for a seperate Tone pot which functions in both active and passive mode. Most pre-amp units are connected in this order. 

2. The second wiring is mostly found in Ibanez Basses, the same Pot functions as Tone in passive and Treble in active mode. We need a special dual pot, B500k and B10k integrated into one, which is not readily available. You can chose this option if you have an Ibanez Bass and you dont want to drill another hole in the body just to put an extra pot. 

CTS pots have a different layout and structure, the connection and concept is the same as a gereric push pull pot but it look a bit confusing, here is a wiring diagram of a CTS tone pot integrated with an active passive push/pull switch.
