About me
Akashdeep Gogoi is a musician based in Mumbai, India, he was born in Guwahati, Assam on the 12th of October, 1982. He started learning music at the age of 14 and has been playing the Bass Guitar since 1999. During his time in Guwahati he used to play bass professionally with many local singers and artists and was also actively associated with many Rock and Pop Bands, out of which the Funk Rock outfit called ‘Casino Blues’ was most successful and they even got a chance to open for the Classic Thrash Metal band ‘Megadeth’ at Bangalore in 2007 after winning a battle of the Bands competition called Rockilution in 2007 organised by DNA networks.
He moved over to Mumbai in 2008 and after exploring the music scene for sometime found out his spot in some Rock Bands like Zedde, Arth and Nitish Pires Band and also worked as a music programmer for a company called Planet 41. In 2010 he auditioned for a TV reality show called MTV Rock On in which eminent artists from the Indian music scene like Kailash Kher, Ram Sampath and Nikhil Chinappa were judges. Right from the start he proved his worth and was a winner in every episode but due to the voting criteria in the finals he could not win the title formally but he won the Runner-Up title with his Band Dhairya. Since then there has been no looking back and even though the pace has been slow, the graph has never taken a dip, he believes that every good thing takes time and hr believes in winning the race slow and steady. His favourite lines are 'YOU GROW WHEN YOUR FRIENDS GROW'. -
- It is worth mentioning that he is amongst the first Indian Bassist to have uploaded individual content relating to Bass guitar on YouTube which dates back to the year 2011 when he had first uploaded his Bass solo song ‘Sunrise to Sunset’ and since then he has proven to be a role model for many budding bassists and also to his fellow bass players and musicians for initiating Bass guitar related content in India. He is very active on his Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/akkydeepgogoi and has a special Youtube channel called ‘BassIndiaBollywood’ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxr3YBVJ3Wyxk2-WoKMLNRQ where he keeps uploading videos especially for the people who are living in India and its neighbouring countries and also for the people who listen to Hindi music and are literally unaware about the existence or the importance of the Bass guitar. His dream is to make the Bass guitar a household instrument so that the standard of Bass playing in India improves and all good Bass players get their due respect and recognition.
Repertoire
Since 2011 Akashdeep Gogoi has played for many Bollywood and Independent Artists either as a sessionist or as a a part of their live Band. He has played in popular TV shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil champs, Sony Jam Room and most recently at MTV Unwind with Rochak Kohli.
Over the years he has played with many Bollywood artists which includes Salim-Suleman, Sunidhi Chauhan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Monali Thakur, Papon Angaraag Mahanta, Zubeen Garg, Anushka Manchanda, Abhijeet Sawant, Meiyang Chang, Javed Ali, Divya Kumar, Sajid-Wajid, Mohd. Irfan, Shefali Alvarez, Parinday, Kunal Ganjawala, Mithoon Sharma, Rahul Vaidya, Shreerama Chandra, Meghna Mishra, Pawni Pandey, Shashi Suman, Arman Mailik, Amaal Malik, Rochak Kohli, Amit Trivedi, Bhoomi Trivedi, Kailash Kher and Anusha Mani. 2024 has been a great year for him and he is now a part Sonu Nigam's live band.
He has worked as a Band director for Mohd. Irfan, Shefali Alvarez and Parinday and also he is working on his own Assamese Rock Band Project called 'Jaivik Swar' as a composer, lyricist and music producer along with talented musicians like Nawaz Hussain, Amborish Saikia and Amarabha Banerjee.
He is also a part of a huge Fusion orchestra group called 'The Perfect Amalgamation' curated by a very passionate gentleman called Siddharth Kashyap and it is a worth mentioning fact that Siddharth discovered Akashdeep via Youtube and Facebook and called him to do a session for him. Siddharth liked his playing so much that later he invited Akashdeep to be a part of his mega fusion project comprising of 20 other renowned musicians from the country.
He has been to every major city in India and has also travelled to many foreign countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe and USA and has performed in over thousands of live events with various artist, but his dream is to play his own music in front of his own audience or fans and to fulfil this dream he came up with the concept of 'Jaivik Swar'.
